Sandplay Therapy

Powerful, hands-on, tactile therapeutic modality

"Often the hands know how to solve a riddle with which the intellect has wrestled in vain"

- C.G. Jung.

What is Sandplay Therapy

Sandplay is a powerful, hands-on, tactile therapeutic modality developed by Dora M. Kalff in Switzerland and based on the psychological principles of C.G. Jung, Sandplay facilitates the psyche’s natural capacity for healing. It is a creative form of therapy using the imagination. It is characterized by the use of sand, water and miniatures in the creation of images within a “free and protected space” of the therapeutic relationship with the therapist as well as, the tray itself. Sandplay is one of the few therapeutic techniques in which language skills are unnecessary for both expression as well as the understanding of expressions. Thus, has truly become a cross-cultural method worldwide. This therapeutic method may be successfully applied to individual work with both children and adults.
